  22. This is the first public beta-release of AiPS.

  24. What is AiPS ?
  25. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  26. It's an image processing package. Yet another ? Not exactly. AiPS is
  27. significantly different than others images processing packages availables
  28. for the Amiga.
  29.  
  30. For example, It can do the Fourier transformation and works in the frequency
  31. domain of the images.
  32.  
  33. It's the first one (I think !) which be able to work on 16 bits per pixel
  34. (per channel) images, that gives 65536 gray levels !
  35.  
  36. The main purpose of AiPS is scientific and it is  able  to  process images in
  37. many domains:  Astronomy, physics, archeology...
  38.  
  39. AiPS can also execute some subjectives processes such as image composition,
  40. solarize effect, oil painting...
  41.  
  42. There are two versions: 8bits and 16bits. The first one is rather designed
  43. for subjective processing, while the second is rather for "serious" image
  44. processing !

  46. Why ?
  47. ~~~~~
  48. In  the  beginning I would  process  some  astronomical images that I had
  49. released  with  a  CCD  camera, but there wasn't any software on the Amiga
  50. able  to  perform  some processes such as FFT transform, Gaussian filters,
  51. profile extraction and many others. So I'd decided to make my own program.

  53. Capabilities

  55. -AiPS can load and process as many images as possible (multiples buffers)
  56. -Up to 256 slices (channels) per image.
  57. -Add, delete, move slices between image buffers (stacks).

  115. The  current  version  of  AiPS is a beta-version, so it might be some bugs
  116. left, and some (very few) functions aren't implanted yet.
  117.  
  118. At  this  moment, only the french documentation is available, but an english
  119. documentation will be available soon.

  121. AiPS is developped on:
  122. - A500 with PPS 040
  123. - A4000/040
  124.  
  125. Sucessfully tested on:
  126. - A4000/040
  127. - A1200 with/without FAST ram, coprocessor, accelerator card.
  128. - A3000
  129. - A500+
  130.  
  131. AiPS works on any Amigas with Workbench 2.04+ installed.  It takes care
  132. of installed chipset (OCS/ECS, AGA).
  133. It needs the reqtools.library which is not included here.

  135. If you have Workbench 2.1+, AiPS will be localized (french and english
  136. catalogs).
